When cancer touches one of our community it affects us all. That is what made the difference for the employees of Norman S. Wright Mechanical Equipment Corporation’s Hawaii office. Each year they designate a charity for their holiday giving and with this year’s choice of the American Cancer Society they invited family, friends, and co-workers who have been impacted by cancer to share their stories. According to Branch Manager, Marites Calad, there was not a dry eye in the place and everyone was moved to contribute to their wonderful gift, including the three owners, Rich Leao – President & CEO, Sal Giglio – Executive Vice President, and Bob Beyer – Executive Vice President. Their total contributions came to $58,993.00! Their gift has been designated to support our Hope Lodge Hawaii operations, which provides free lodging to cancer patients that need to travel to Oahu for treatment.

Hope comes in many shapes, sizes, and colors. Survivors and Caregivers from the Cancer Support Group, Malama Ka Pili Pa’a, from Hilo, provided 20 hand sewn comfort pillows to be provided to new guests staying at the Hope Lodge Hawai’i. The material for these special pillows was donated by Uncle Johnny Lum Ho and Sandra Claveria.
