With three sisters who have fought breast cancer, Brian J. Burns is on a mission to help fund research that find cures. His sister Susan was taken by the disease in the early aughts. His sister Eileen lost her courageous battle a decade later. What’s more, Brian’s sister Maureen was diagnosed in 2010 and has been a survivor for nine years and counting. These outstanding women have shown Brian the strength and virtue needed to live life with dignity and grace in the face of disease.
“I have witnessed how this awful disease ravages the body and spirit. I have also witnessed hope and recovery. I am only one of millions whose life has been touched by this disease,” – Brian
As a stalwart supporter of The American Cancer Society’s Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, Brian has created an event on Maui that increases efforts being made by ACS to achieve breakthrough research and conduct patient services. In solidarity, the walk on Maui is held on the same day as the Oahu MSABC walk.
This is the 5th Annual Walk and Brian is planning for it to be the largest turnout yet! You can find more details about the Maui Spirit of Survival Walk in the Event Announcement section of makingstrideswalk.org/Hawaii
