A Message from our Senior Director, Alaina Cunningham
Aloha and Hafa Adai!
A new year always brings opportunity for a new beginning. A time where we can refresh, refocus, and reenergize. Here at American Cancer Society it is no different. In the last year we have added new staff members and some staff have changed roles. So we want to start the year by reintroducing you to YOUR American Cancer Society. We want you to get to know your ACS ohana and learn more about our events, priorities and focus for 2016. Therefore, in the coming weeks and months we will be sharing profiles of our staff and volunteers, highlighting our programs and services and informing you of your local events. Most importantly we want to reignite your desire to work with us to finish the fight against cancer.
It has been about a year since I started with your American Cancer Society. It is without a doubt one of the most rewarding opportunities of my career. I am continually humbled by the amazing communities we work in. Our volunteers, participants and survivors devote countless hours of their precious time to support both our events and mission programs. Your presence is felt in each community, across all the islands. I am reminded of a quote by an unknown author, “Volunteering is the ultimate exercise in democracy. You vote in elections once a year, but when you volunteer, you vote every day about the kind of community you want to live in.” Each of you is shaping our communities. You are all truly extraordinary.
We are very excited about 2016 and all it has in store for the fight against cancer.
Mahalo for all of your support!
